According to Bloomberg, Tether Holdings SA CEO Paolo Ardoino stated in an interview that the company plans to significantly expand its lending business after providing approximately $1.5 billion in credit to commodity traders. The company intends to increase financing for commodity trades, including oil, cotton, wheat, and other agricultural products, and has already issued loans in USD and its stablecoin USDT.
Tether's commodity lending business falls under its trade finance division and is independent of its stablecoin reserves. The company holds nearly $200 billion in reserves and generates substantial revenue from them.
