In August 2020, UNI burst onto the scene, kicking off the era of airdrops for everyone. By April 2021, the token price hit an all-time high of $40. Back then, many people were bullish on UNI, generally believing that Uniswap was the leader of DeFi and the king of innovation. So, the idea of UNI reaching $100 seemed totally within reach—way too easy. However, four years later, UNI has been on a downward trend , dropping all the way to $2 as of October 11. Regarding UNI’s latest series of announcements , I’ve seen two completely opposing viewpoints: One side believes this is Uniswap hitting roadblocks in its attempt to go public on the U.S. stock market, so it’s settling for second best by returning to the community. This move, they argue, is just a way for the foundation to cash out, not a genuine effort to improve the project or benefit the community. The other side thinks the UNI team is serious this time. Even though they’ve teased people multiple times before, leaving a bad impression, as long as they’re still proposing plans and building, it’s better than those projects that just grab the money and run, start a new scheme, or completely give up. This group chooses to trust them one more time, viewing the proposal as a positive signal and jumping on board decisively. The story isn’t over yet—let’s wait and see which side ends up getting slapped in the face!
