[The European Commission to Amend the Long-Term Budget] On November 10 local time, after the European Parliament threatened to block the EU's next long-term budget, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen informed the President of the European Parliament and the EU's rotating presidency in writing that the long-term budget would be amended. On the 10th, European Commission President von der Leyen stated on social media that she had a constructive meeting with the President of the European Parliament and Denmark, the EU's rotating presidency, to discuss the EU's €2 trillion long-term budget and clarify the direction. In July, the European Commission announced a long-term budget of approximately €2 trillion, focusing on increasing investment in priorities such as defense and competitiveness.
