the $xUSD depeg, full story it started with @Cbb0fe tagging the project and saying everyone to withdraw the funds, since it looked like a ponzi that will collapse soon (it did collapse) 2 days passed, Stream Finance, the team behind xUSD, reported a 93M loss from their delta-neutral yield strategy. the idea was simple on paper: use recursive leverage to generate yield while keeping exposure “market-neutral.” in reality, it was one liquidation away from collapse. once positions unwound, the peg snapped. $xUSD dropped from 1 to around 0.35, and within hours the protocol froze deposits and withdrawals. on-chain data showed that real backing was far lower than reported. most “yield reserves” were synthetic or locked inside other protocols. > 93M missing > -87% crash > deposits frozen > no communication from the team and just like that, another “safe yield stablecoin” turned into a ticking bomb. the scary part? $xUSD wasn’t unique. dozens of DeFi stables rely on similar leveraged “delta-neutral” loops that only stay stable as long as everything else does. the lesson: if your stablecoin needs a thread to explain how it stays stable, it probably isn’t.(Hanzo ㊗️)
