According to Golden Finance, US cryptocurrency exchanges Coinbase and Gemini are in the final stages of being approved to operate in the European Union. Both competitors will obtain authorization from Crypto Asset Service Providers (CASPs) based on the standards set by the European Union Crypto Asset Market (MiCA) rule set.
Coinbase is expected to obtain permission from Luxembourg and intends to open an office in Luxembourg. Meanwhile, Gemini applied for an operating license from Malta in January of this year.
MiCA is a comprehensive set of regulations and guidelines aimed at establishing a unified cryptocurrency regulatory approach for trade groups across the 27 member states of the European Union. This rule came into full effect at the end of last year.
