The more value they represent in terms of real world purchasing power, the more purely native decentralized DeFi and other protocols can do. E.g. over-collateralized CDP-based stablecoins can be purely decentralized, but we need the underlying collateral to be natively decentralized, otherwise centralized (bank) rugs can be pulled out from under stablecoins running on decentralized rails.
