According to Xinhua News Agency, Vice Premier He Lifeng of the State Council met with World Trade Organization Director General Ivira in Geneva. He Lifeng stated that the multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization at its core is the cornerstone of international trade and plays an important role in global economic governance. All parties should resolve differences and disputes through equal dialogue within the framework of the World Trade Organization, jointly uphold multilateralism and free trade, and promote stable and smooth global industrial and supply chains. China will continue to fully and deeply participate in the reform of the World Trade Organization, support the organization in playing the role of a global trade "stabilizer", safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing members, and make greater contributions to addressing common global challenges. He Lifeng also introduced the relevant situation of the China US high-level economic and trade talks upon inquiry. Ivira stated that the current global economic and trade growth is facing severe challenges, and members of the World Trade Organization should jointly defend the open and rule-based multilateral trading system, strengthen dialogue and cooperation on international trade issues, and promote the World Trade Organization to play a greater role in promoting trade liberalization, facilitation, and achieving global sustainable development.
