Odaily Planet Daily News: In November 2024, a coalition of state attorneys general in the United States accused the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of exceeding its authority under former chairman Gary Gensler to crack down on cryptocurrency companies without establishing appropriate rules.
On April 16th local time, Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove of the Eastern District of Kentucky approved a 60 day suspension of the case, stating that the SEC itself acknowledged that due to the leadership transition, "this case may be resolved," and neither side opposed the motion. Currently, a joint status update needs to be submitted within 30 days. This suspension was made after the Trump administration abandoned the SEC's previous strict enforcement agenda on cryptocurrency, marking a more favorable regulatory environment for the industry.
