  • Zimbabwean securities regulator approved 7 fintech firms to join its regulatory sandbox framework.
  • Ndarama Standard and four others will advance tokenization across Zimbabwe’s markets.
  • SEC will monitor the 7 entities during testing and issue new directives as needed.

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe (SECZ) has announced the approval of seven financial technology, or fintech, solutions to participate in its regulatory sandbox testing framework. In a public notice issued by acting CEO Tichaona Mushambadope, the regulator marked a step forward in its efforts to embrace digital financial innovation while maintaining market oversight.

The regulatory sandbox provides a controlled, supervised environment with predefined parameters and testing timeframes. Within this framework, approved participants can test innovative products, services and business models before introducing them to the broader financial market.

The latest batch of sandbox participants covers a range of capital market technologies, including blockchain-driven platforms, synthetic trading, crowdfunding and tokenization.

Among the selected entities are Zimbabwe Entrepreneurship Exchange, a blockchain-driven capital-raising platform, and Ndarama Standard, an asset tokenization platform. Questview Brokers, a synthetic trading platform, and Crowdaxe Capital, a web-based crowdfunding platform, were also approved.

Rounding out the list are Procode Platforms, Financial Securities Exchange and Colmin Resources Zimbabwe, all focused on various forms of asset, infrastructure or securities tokenization.

According to SECZ, the primary objective of the testing program is to facilitate responsible innovation, boost financial inclusion, and encourage the development of a fair, transparent and efficient capital market in Zimbabwe.

The commission emphasized that participation in the sandbox remains subject to strict regulatory supervision. To protect investors, SECZ cautioned that any claims or representations made outside the approved parameters will be treated as misleading.

SECZ confirmed it will continuously monitor and evaluate participants throughout their testing periods, reserving the right to issue further directives, guidance or operational requirements as needed.
