AI summarizes in 5 seconds.

Six months ago, "how to write good prompts" was the hottest topic in the group. Now, this question is clearly outdated. Replacing prompts are Skills.

The obvious trigger for this switch is the emergence of OpenClaw.

You could argue it is a copycat, not an original agent, but it truly brought the concept of agents into the public eye, closer to the type of AI you've seen in movies: it has personality, can remember things, plans ahead, and can actually get things done for you, rather than just answering your questions.

In the past, when people used AI, they were essentially using a very smart search engine — you ask, it answers, and then the next round starts over. Agents stretched this line. They actively advance tasks, take detours when encountering obstacles, and after completing one step, they move on to the next. When you first see it actually complete a whole task, you have a strange feeling: this thing is really helping me work.

Then people started to think: how can we make it more capable?

This is the real reason Skills have become popular. It's not because Skills themselves are new, but because agents made people think seriously about this issue for the first time. Skills provide agents with specialized abilities.

Why are Skills so important now?

An agent without Skills is like a smart but untrained newcomer. If you ask it to do financial analysis, it will think, but it acts slowly, makes mistakes easily, and you have to guide it through many steps. Skills are like having already learned the complete process in that field — they can start handling tasks right away without needing you to correct them repeatedly.

The most widely shared Skills in the community focus on several areas: workflow automation, connecting operations that originally required jumping back and forth between multiple tools into a single chain that an agent can run independently; injecting rules from professional fields, ensuring agents don’t improvise on tasks like legal, medical, and financial that require high precision; personalized adaptation, tuning agents to your most comfortable working style, remembering your preferences, language style, and judgment criteria; of course, there’s also a type of Skills related to financial matters, such as trading.

Arbitrage opportunities on Polymarket are difficult for regular people to understand, and they lack the time to monitor price discrepancies. But agents equipped with specialized Skills can: monitor in real-time, identify deviations, and determine whether to enter the market, all without needing you to have any background knowledge of predicting markets.

Quantitative trading is the same. In the past, this was the realm of investment banks and hedge funds, requiring writing strategy code, interfacing with APIs, and monitoring back-test data. Now some have packaged the entire process as Skills, allowing agents to execute strategies at exchanges immediately. The barrier has shifted from "knowing programming and finance" to "installing Skills."

This change isn't making people lazy; it's pushing the boundaries of capability outward.

Behind these demands is a common logic: people are beginning to seriously regard agents as long-term partners rather than tools to be used and discarded.

So, do you have any novel ideas you'd like to turn into a Skill for your agent?

In the past, if you had an idea and identified a market gap, you couldn't bring it to fruition. You didn't know how to code, had no time to learn, outsourcing was expensive and slow, and eventually that idea would rot in your memo. Now it's different. With vibe coding, you can directly transform your idea into a Skill — no need to create a webpage, an App, require a server, or maintain a team.

The underlying logic here is: agents will be a necessity for everyone. The Skills you create don't need to attract users; they inherently operate on agents that everyone is already using. The market is there, the channels are there; you just need to create what others haven’t yet.

Previously, there was a technical team gap between "I have a great idea" and "I have a product that can run." Now this distance has been compressed into a weekend.

To help more great Skills be seen, Rhythm BlockBeats has partnered with Zhihu to host an event in Hong Kong on April 21 titled "Decrypting Web 4.0: When AI Agents Take Over On-Chain Rights."

At this event supported by Wanxiang Blockchain and the School of Business at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, top industry leaders will share their unique insights as we discuss the potential of "Agent Autonomous Economies," the necessity of on-chain automation, and the new financial models brought by Agents.

We have also invited high-quality Skills teams engaged in trading for profit and changing payment habits; the flow of funds is the top priority for attention, as everyone wants Agents to make money. These Skills Demos will showcase the forefront of financial change, highlighting those that can transform our habits and perceptions.

Now, we want your Skills to be seen too.

You can click here to register and submit your Skills link to us. If you are in Hong Kong during the "Hong Kong Web3 Carnival" event, you will have the chance to showcase it live to all attendees at our Hong Kong event. Registration link

If you have created a truly usable Skill and want more people to see it, you can register now.
