After years of building, the past few months delivered the technical milestones that eliminate the fundamental tradeoffs holding back institutional adoption.
The Atlas upgrade delivers 15,000+ TPS and one second ZK finality through the Airbender proof system. Transactions settle with cryptographic proof almost instantly unlike traditional payment rails. Institutions can settle complex transactions without waiting for confirmation or worrying about reversals.
Airbender achieves this performance while collapsing cost. It can sustain over 1 million transactions per day for less than $100 per day on one GPU. Nations and institutions can run blockchain infra on their own domestic hardware instead of relying on foreign cloud providers.
With Airbender, a single GPU can prove ZKsync blocks in under 3 seconds and Ethereum blocks in under 35 seconds, or 17 seconds without recursion.
The Atlas upgrade maintains a fully EVM equivalent execution environment. This means complex smart contracts and dApps written in Solidity can run on the ZK Stack with the same reliability as on Ethereum. The performance gains come with hyper scale throughput and near-instant finality. Developers don't have to rewrite or compromise code to achieve this performance.
With Atlas in place, the ZK Stack moved to solve fragmented liquidity across chains through protocol level interoperability across the Elastic Network.
Because all chains inherit the same security guarantees from Ethereum via ZK proofs, the Gateway ensures asset transfers are atomic and trustless. Fragmentation has been fixed.
The September 1 deployment brought instant transaction confirmation for exchanges and dApps, critical for HFT. Combined with 200ms block times, the network delivers transaction latency that rivals Web2 apps.
The technical foundation is complete. Now the focus is on distribution and adoption.
