The cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, headquartered in the United States, has released its annual transparency report, showing a significant surge in requests from law enforcement agencies.

In the report published on Monday, Coinbase stated that from October 2024 to September 2025, the company received 12,716 law enforcement requests globally, an increase of 19% compared to the requests reported in 2024.

The exchange noted that more than half of these requests—53%—came from outside the United States, with 80% of the requests originating from the U.S., Germany, the U.K., France, Spain, and Australia.

The report stated, "As in previous years, the vast majority of requests we receive globally and in the U.S. come from law enforcement agencies related to criminal law enforcement matters."

According to the cryptocurrency exchange, the requests in 2025 included "subpoenas, court orders, search warrants, and other formal legal processes."

Coinbase pointed out that users may be concerned about the privacy of their financial data, but the company "is obligated to respond to these requests if they are valid under the laws applicable to us."

Coinbase reported receiving 5,444 requests from U.S. law enforcement agencies, which has been the highest among all reported countries since 2022. Since President Donald Trump took office, the company has established closer ties with the U.S. government, with Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong frequently visiting Capitol Hill, and a representative attending a White House fundraising dinner in October.

Jerome Powell's term as Chairman of the Federal Reserve is set to end in May 2026. Several names have been proposed as potential successors, with prediction platforms like Polymarket favoring Kevin Hassett, who was an economic advisor to Trump and a former member of Coinbase's advisory board.
